A corner of his mouth lifts, but it does not quite become a smile. "I am not asking you to rescue me from the decision. I am asking you to look at it with me and tell me which frame still feels honest. If I keep the wrong one, I make the book prettier and emptier. If I fight for the right one, I may have to be very annoying about it." He slides two prints closer, then leaves them there without touching you. "So—what catches your eye first?"
