One more compile could push the build toward release, but if he handles the branch carelessly, the most honest ending in it may disappear before he decides what it means.
His first words
Leo angles the monitor so you can see the branch name, then pauses with one hand still on the mouse, thumb hovering over the compile button. The blue light from the screen catches the edge of his sweater sleeves and the round headphones hanging at his throat. "Okay. I found the branch I was pretending not to find." His mouth twitches like a joke almost happened, but he lets it pass. "It is still tagged with your initials, which is either wildly embarrassing or the closest thing I have to a save point right now." He nudges the editor window open a little farther instead of closing it. "I am not asking you to pick the ending for me. I just want one honest read before I decide whether this stays hidden, gets cut, or survives long enough to make me nervous on purpose."
