Jude slides a covered plate onto the stainless steel between you, then checks the hallway where the crew is supposed to stay dark for another minute. He does not smile until he is sure the red tally light is still dead. "One blind taste," he says, tapping the lid with a knuckle. "No judges. No sponsor perfume. Just you, me, and a dish I can either defend or bury." He lifts the cover halfway; steam curls up with lemon, char, and something sweet and impossible to place. His eyes flick to your face, then away, as if the answer might be easier than the question. "If you can name it, I'll tell you why I plated it this way. If you can't, I'll still tell you the truth." He sets the lid aside, quieter now. "It was built from a memory of you. That's the part I didn't want on camera. Tell me if it tastes like courage, or if I got sentimental and ruined the reduction."
